What this site is

Best Brokers for Investing publishes research on brokerage accounts: what they cost, which legal entity holds your money, what protects it, and what each firm actually offers. Every figure is read from the provider’s own published schedule or from a regulator’s record, and every page shows the date it was read.

At this revision we score 12 brokers across 8 published rankings, hold 1 researched firms back from every ranking, and keep 3 rankings as unpublished drafts. The dataset was last verified end to end on August 28, 2026.

Why it exists

Broker comparison is one of the most commercially contested categories on the web. Most sites in it are paid per account opened, which creates a consistent gradient: firms with affiliate programmes get covered, firms without them get less attention regardless of quality, and the criteria that are hardest to check tend to be the ones that move positions.

We are trying to build the opposite. The scoring here is deliberately boring, mechanical and reproducible. The weights are published on every page. The things we have not measured are named rather than quietly estimated. If a reader cannot recompute one of our totals from the numbers on the page, we have failed at the only thing that distinguishes us.

What we will not do

• Claim to have opened, funded or traded an account we have not
• Score a category we have no evidence for
• Publish a figure we could not read from a primary source
• Let a commercial relationship move a score or a ranking position
• Publish invented user reviews, star ratings or testimonials
• Generate country or comparison pages we have not researched, to fill a sitemap
• Give personalized investment advice — we are not licensed to, and we will not imply it

How we are funded

At present we have no affiliate or commercial relationship with any broker on this site, and every outbound link is a plain link. If that changes, the relationship will be disclosed on the broker’s own row and on our affiliate disclosure page, the link will carry rel=“sponsored”, and the score will not move. The scoring code has no access to commercial data — that is a module boundary, not a promise.

Who writes it

Bylines on this site are currently unassigned placeholders, and every page says so where a byline would normally appear. We would rather show an honest gap than attach a name to work nobody has signed off. Our editorial policy describes what a named byline will commit its holder to.
