Corrections policy
Corrections policy
Fee schedules change, entities get restructured, and we will get things wrong. What matters is how fast it is fixed and whether the fix is visible.
How to report an error
Email editor@bestbrokersforinvesting.com with the page URL, the specific figure or claim, and a link to the primary source that contradicts it. Reports that include a primary source are actioned fastest, because they can be verified immediately.
What we commit to
- Acknowledge within two business days of receiving a report
- Correct a verified factual error within five business days of confirming it
- Correct at source. Data corrections are made in the broker database, so the fix propagates to every ranking, review, comparison and table at once. A figure cannot be right on one page and wrong on another
- Update the verification date only when the source is re-read. We do not refresh a date to make a page look current
- Re-score where the correction warrants it, and say so on the affected pages rather than recalculating silently
How different kinds of correction are handled
Factual errors
A wrong fee, entity, date or availability. Corrected at source and noted. If the error changed a score or a ranking position, that is stated explicitly on the affected pages.
Changes at the provider
A broker changing its own fees is not an error on our part, but it does make our page wrong. We re-read the full schedule and update the verification date. Any firm is re-read within five business days of a credible report that its terms have changed.
Disputed judgments
A sub-score is a judgment, not a fact, and reasonable people can disagree about one. We will not change a score because a firm objects to it. We will change it if you show us that the evidence behind it was misread — and we publish the rationale for every sub-score precisely so that argument can be had on the evidence rather than on volume.
Requests to remove accurate information
We do not remove accurate, sourced information — including enforcement matters — at the request of the firm concerned. We will correct any inaccuracy in how a matter is described, and we will add material context where it is sourced.
Scheduled re-verification
- The full dataset is re-read end to end at least quarterly
- Entity records are re-checked against FINRA at every full re-verification
- Any individual firm is re-read within five business days of a credible change report
Correction log
A public log of material corrections will be maintained on this page. It is currently empty: this site has not been live long enough to have issued one. An empty log after a sustained period of publication would be a warning sign rather than a good one — every publisher that genuinely checks its own work finds errors eventually.
